Cal State & University Conference Important News Update

College Application Expectations and Deadlines.

Due to severe budget cuts in this economy, the UC campuses are reducing enrollment by 500 students at each campus. Cal State schools are reducing enrollment by 55,000 across the 23 Cal State Campuses.

It is imperative that we communicate to parents and students that all college deadlines are firm. Cal State Schools opened the application process on October 1 and will close the application on November 30, 2009. Monday-Friday, from 6:30am to 6:30 pm Cal State help line can be reached at 1-800-468-6927.

University of California (UC) campuses will open the application process on November 1 and close November 30, 3009. Both California University systems ask that students do their homework when applying, by researching the schools they desire to attend, they suggest student’s have a PLAN A, PLAN B and PLAN C , and not wait until the last minute to apply. UC is offering help via ucinfo@ucapplication.net

According to the University's students are highly encouraged to check their University email frequently. All communication will be sent to their individual email accounts. We will continue to meet with students and parents and provide workshops at LHHS in completing the University applications.

ADVANCE is also hosting their annual, "La Habra GOES TO COLLEGE", on October 24, from 10:00- 2:00pm at the Community Center. ADVANCE is also open in the evenings from 4:30-8:30, Tuesday, Wednesday's and Thursday's. Contact ADVANCE at 562-691-2117 for more information.
