Spring Sports
Come out and support all of our spring sports teams. Boys Tennis, Golf, Track and Field, Swimming and Diving, Baseball, and Softball all begin their seasons this week. Schedules are available in room 12.
CIF Boys' Basketball Quarter Finals
The Highlanders travel to play Ocean View on Tuesday in the quarter finals of the CIF Championship Playoffs. The game will be broadcast live on Sportsnetusa.net starting at 6:30. Catch all the action on the internet if you are unable to attend the game.
CIF SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONS
The Highlanders defeated Trabuco Hills 21-0 on Saturday at Anaheim Stadium. The football program's third title in a row and their fifth CIF football championship this decade. They are only the fifth team in Orange County to win three consecutive titles and win at least five CIF Championships. Congratulations to everyone connected with our football program.
Freeway League Champions
Varsity Football Coach Frank Mazzotta led the Highlanders to their third straight Freeway League Championship and their third straight appearance in the CIF Finals. Congratulations to all the players and staff on their outstanding accomplishment. Good luck on Saturday at Anaheim Stadium.
Freeway League Champions
The Girls' Cross Country team won their second consecutive Freeway League Championship at Craig Park on 10/29. The team was led by Freeway League Runner of the Year Katelyn Rogers, the freshman won the varsity race in a time of 19:29. Fellow teammates Michelle Clark and Sarah Pfaff joined Katelyn on the All League Team. Coach Erin Allard and her team are to be congratulated for this outstanding achievement.
Freeway League Male Athlete of the Year
Ronnie Hillman was chosen as the male athlete of the year by the Freeway League Athletic Directors. Ronnie was a star performer in football and track. He wiill attend San Diego St. on a football scholarship. Congratulations and good luck to this outstanding La Habra Highlander.
Freeway League Champions
The Lady Highlander softball team won their first league championship since 1999. The team was led by Julia Pecina, Sara Whitney, and Michelle Schrader. With a lot of support from Lauren Guy, Dayna Douglas, Brooke Leonard, Kayla Klein, Chelsea Sciacca, Torey Milan, Leslie Halte, Cami Jacob, Sammie Klein, Shanin Thomas, and Maleena Esparza. They will play at home on Thursday at 3:15 in the first round of the CIF Playoffs.
Freeway League Track and Field Champions
Congratulations go out to a number of our track and field student athletes. At the league finals on Thursday they were successful in winning many individual league championships. Our league champions are Jordan Sachs(high jump), Will Parsons(discus), Michelle Clark(800), Chelsea Biddle(1600), Sara Biddle(3200), Mitchell Moore(800, 1600), and the Boys' 4x100 relay team(Joshua Quezada, Alex Napoles, John Rae, and Ronnie Hillman). Also, the Athlete of the Meet was Ronnie Hillman who was a league champion in four events(100, 200, long jump, and the 4x100 relay). Good luck to all our Highlanders as they will now compete for a CIF championship.
CIF State Wrestling Championships
Congratulations to Aaron La Farge and Bryan Barocio as they have qualified for the State tournament held in Northern California. This is Aaron's second trip and the first time for Bryan. We are all extremely proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck at the state tournament.
CIF Individual Wrestling Champion
Aaron La Farge sucessfully defended his CIF championship and became the first back to back wrestling champion for La Habra High School. He will move along to the CIF Masters Competition along with fellow senior, Bryan Barocio for a chance at winning a state championship. Congratulations and Good Luck.
