  1. Reading. Editing, and Mathematics

The reading, editing, and mathematics graduation competency requirements can be met by achieving a passing score on the Stanford Achievement Test, Ninth Edition (SAT 9) or state approved test in each of these three areas. This examination is administered to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in the spring. Additional competency examinations are offered at each school during the senior year and in summer school.

  2. Writing

The writing examination is administered to all freshmen and sophomores in the fall and spring and to juniors and seniors in the spring.

  3. Computer

The student must pass the District Computer Competency examination by successfully completing one of the options listed below.

    1. The examination has two parts: a written examination and a practical demonstration examination on a computer. The student must pass both parts of the examination in order to meet the computer competency requirement. The practical demonstration portion of the test requires the student to input data and generate reports using (1) a word processing program, and (2) a spreadsheet or database. The school software program or the student's own software, if approved by the instructor, is used for the lab portion of the test.

    2. The computer competency examination is administered at each school during the fall and spring semesters.

    3. Campus computer courses will offer the test as a part of the regular assessments in the class. The exam must be passed in order to fulfill the competency requirement.

    4. Selected ROP classes may administer the examination. The student should check with the instructor or Guidance Office prior to enrolling to determine if the examination will be offered.

    5. Component junior high/middle/intermediate school districts may administer the Fullerton Joint Union High School District Computer Competency Examination at the conclusion of a computer course. Passing the examination in the junior high/middle/intermediate school fulfills the high school computer competency graduation requirement.
