The Fullerton Joint Union High School District provides several types of alternative and continuing education in order to meet the educational needs of all students. An Independent Study program is administered by La Sierra High School Personnel on Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., in room 36.

La Vista Continuation High School is available for juniors, seniors, or students 16 years old or older; this school is located in east Fullerton. La Sierra High School is another alternative which offers an independent study and diploma program. Limited space is available in Opportunity School, a daily three-hour program, located at La Habra High School and other various schools in the district, for students who are usually in the 9th or 10th grade.
These placements are sometimes suggested for students who do not find success in the regular comprehensive high school
