Principal's Message

Hello Highlander Students and Parents.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at La Habra High School (LHHS), a California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon Nominated School. We are looking forward to having you join and continue the rich Highlander history and traditions established over the past fifty-eight years. Our school’s mission is to collaboratively prepare our students for high standards in academics, communication, technology, personal responsibility, and character so that they will be successful lifelong learners in a challenging and diverse global economy.

To achieve our mission, we offer a wide array of programs and activities that provide every student an opportunity for academic and personal growth. All LHHS students are encouraged to look for the experiences that best match his/her talents and interests. Unique to La Habra High School, we are proud of our specialized programs:

  • Heritage of the Americas – a California Golden Bell Award, is a Specialized Secondary Program that provides a rigorous academic course of study and qualified four consecutive years in the State History Day competition.
  • Marketing and Business Academy (MBA) – a California Golden Bell Award and California Partnership Academy, offers outstanding career training.
  • Navy JROTC – the LHHS Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp program has been named “Distinguished Unit” for the past six years.
  • Agriculture – Career Technical Education Grant Award Recipient, the agriculture program at LHHS provides exceptional learning and leadership development experiences.
  • LHHS has been designated as one of America’s Best High Schools by Newsweek magazine.  This honor recognizes the top five percent of all high schools in the U.S.
  • In partnership with the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program, LHHS offers up-to-date, effective career, technical, and vocational educational programs leading to entry-level positions upon graduation.
  • LHHS has been CIF Football Champions for four consecutive years.
  • Award winning spring musicals (Beauty and The Beast, The King and I, and The Sound of Music) by Theatre Guild.
  • Award winning La Habra High School Instrumental Music programs, which includes the Highlander Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Drum Line, and Symphonic Band.  All of these groups consistently receive the highest possible ratings at all festivals and competitions. This includes "Superior" ratings for the Symphonic Band every year for more than 10 years consecutively.

In addition, we offer eighteen Advanced Placement courses, numerous performing arts classes in the areas of theater, vocal and instrumental music, a successful Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program, a flourishing Forensic Science curriculum, and strong career/technical choices in the Regional Occupational Program (ROP). LHHS is the place where students excel both in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities.

Our successful athletic programs, extra-curricular, and co-curricular activities provide students with additional opportunities to connect with LHHS. High school students achieve high levels of success by getting involved, feeling connected, and developing pride in their school and community. Involvement in academics, athletics, the arts, and activities makes school meaningful and relevant; this is essential to high student achievement and LHHS take great pride in having such high student involvement.

We encourage parents to get involved in PTA, booster clubs, GRAD Nite, and join other committees throughout the coming school year to increase communication and build a stronger partnership with LHHS’ outstanding student body, staff, and community. Our desire is to be partners in your students’ education and work together for student success.

On behalf of our faculty and staff members, we extend a warm welcome to all students and their families and request your continued support of our school.

    GO HIGHLANDERS!
